Vreni Schneider christens the 14th Airbus A320 of Edelweiss

· Airbus A320, HB-JLP, was christened Elm

· Musical accompaniment with the Chlytal yodelling choir

An Airbus A320 has been added to the Edelweiss short/medium-haul fleet. The 14th aircraft in this fleet with the registration HB-JLP was ceremoniously christened Elm on Monday morning, 4 March. The traditional naming ceremony was performed by Vreni Schneider, former ski racer and Swiss sportswoman of the century, and Markus Gander, Chief Product Officer at Edelweiss. The ceremony was attended by representatives of Sportbahnen Elm and VISIT Glarnerland. The celebrations were accompanied by music from the Chlytal Yodelling Choir.

"I am extremely pleased that with the Elm holiday region we have found another region in Switzerland where the rare edelweiss actually blooms. We are delighted that in Vreni Schneider we have also found a godmother who is still a role model for many sportswomen and sportsmen far beyond our national borders", says Markus Gander. In general, the Glarus region seems to be a good breeding ground for the Edelweiss. After Braunwald, Elm is the second Airbus A320 to bear a name from this canton.

Jasmin Schläpfer, Product Manager Elm at VISIT Glarnerland, is also delighted. "Many unforgettable events and experiences await in the Elm holiday region. Once you're here, you don't want to leave. This slogan could actually also be used for Edelweiss with its many holiday paradise destinations. With this aircraft, we are taking our holiday region almost all over the world."

As a sign of the partnership, the representatives of the Elm holiday region are placing an Edelweiss wooden bench in the shape of an aeroplane seat. On it, passers-by can enjoy the most beautiful views and dream of their next holiday. Almost like being on an aeroplane.
