Halifax in Nova Scotia - where the Atlantic coast enchants nature lovers
Do you like outdoor activities and nature - but also the urban lifestyle and seafood? Then a holiday in Halifax should be a hit with you. The lively capital of the province of Nova Scotia is also the perfect starting point for round trips in Canada's east.
How about a morning stroll along the waterfront and brunch in a hip café? Then on to the Citadel, where the "Noon Gun" has been fired every day since 1856 (except at Christmas). In the afternoon, visit the Pier 21 Immigration Museum and the Victorian Public Gardens. If you like, try the local speciality for dinner: freshly caught lobster.
The area surrounding Halifax is ideal for outdoor adventures - whether by bike, kayak or on foot. A particular highlight is the Skyline Trail in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. On this 7.5 kilometre circular trail, you can enjoy fantastic sea views, hike through highland meadows full of wildflowers and through lush forests. If you look closely and are patient, you might even spot a moose.
