Sun and fun: a rhapsody of Preveza and Lefkada
The port city of Preveza is embraced by both the Ionian Sea and the Ambracian Gulf. It is an excellent base for excursions to historic sites, the peaceful forests of Epirus, and romantic towns like Parga. After a hike along the Acheron river, the oracle of the dead, Nekromanteion, might even offer some good advice for the future.
A great place to relax in Preveza is the 22 kilometres long Monolithi Beach, which is the longest of its kind in the European Union. Those in search of even more incredible coastlines with turquoise blue waters should head over to Lefkada. This charming island is linked to Preveza by a bridge. Lefkada is not only popular with beach lovers and snorkelers, but also with sailors, hikers, and mountain bikers. Furthermore, the island is one of the best windsurfing spots in Europe. The strong currents and the relatively shallow waters in the bay of Vassiliki and on Agios Ioannis Beach are a magnet for wind and kite surfers alike.
