Edelweiss takes off for Tbilisi for the first time

  • First flight took place on Saturday, 12 April 2025
  • Flights will be offered twice a week until the end of October
  • Festive ceremony with traditional ribbon-cutting at the gate

Last Saturday, Edelweiss celebrated the launch of its new route to Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. The first flight was celebrated at Zurich Airport with a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony. Representatives of Edelweiss, the Georgian Embassy in Switzerland and Zurich Airport officially opened the new route.

Small Georgia in the South Caucasus delights with wild natural beauty and a diverse culinary scene that seduces all the senses. The capital Tbilisi is a cultural melting pot where Soviet, European and Oriental influences merge to create a unique flair.

Visitors get a first overview with a cable car ride to the Narikala fortress, discover the dazzling Junah Mosque or relax in the vibrant ‘Fabrika’ with its boutiques and cafes. Typical specialities such as crispy Khachapuri and aromatic wine also make Tbilisi a culinary delight. The city is also an ideal starting point for trips to the mountains of Stepantsminda or to the wine-producing regions and to Batumi on the Black Sea.

Edelweiss flies twice weekly from Zurich to Tbilisi with an Airbus A320 until the end of October.
