David Birrer new Chief Operating Officer of Edelweiss

David Birrer will join the Executive Board of Edelweiss as Chief Operating Officer and Accountable Manager on 1 March 2022. In his new role, he will assume overall strategic and operational responsibility for Edelweiss flight operations. He has been Managing Director and Accountable Manager of Lufthansa Aviation Training Switzerland AG for four years. David Birrer succeeds Daniel Landert at Edelweiss, who will leave the company at the end of February 2022 after four years in this position and move to the Swiss Air-Rescue Rega as designated Head of Jet Operations and member of the Executive Board.

Prior to his work as Managing Director and Accountable Manager of Lufthansa Aviation Training Switzerland AG, the 46-year-old Swiss national held various management positions at Swiss AviationTraining AG from 2009 to 2017 and gained ten years of international experience as an engineer, department head for project management and as Head of Marketing & Strategy in the radio and TV broadcasting industry.

In addition to his studies in electrical engineering and communications technology at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Birrer has completed postgraduate studies in industrial engineering, an Executive Master in Business Administration and the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School.
