Go to Montego Bay

The top spots in Jamaica

Jamaica has so much to offer that you have to stop at every corner because there is something to see. Usain Bolt once said, that's why he became a sprinter. On another island, he would probably have become a marathon runner.

Konoko Falls

Waterfalls

Jamaica is known for its impressive waterfalls. Especially, the surrounding exotic nature makes them something very special.  Be sure to wear sturdy bathing shoes when you visit, as some of the waterfalls are tricky to get to and the paths can be rough.

Dunn’s River Falls

Dunn’s River Falls

The waterfalls of the River Dunn are probably the best known on the island. And not without reason - It is one of Jamaica's treasures and one of the most beautiful places on the island. Just a stone's throw from Ocho Rios, they are also very easy to reach.

Irie Blue Hole

Irie Blue Hole

A few kilometres up the hills near Ocho Rios you will find the Irie Blue Hole. The Blue Hole is particularly enchanting with its steel-blue natural pool. But there is also action and adventure here.

Reach Falls

Reach Falls

In the east of the island, near Port Antonio, you will find the Reach Falls. Peacefully nestled in the middle of the exotic jungle lies the emerald green lake and waterfalls. What makes Reach Falls special is the so-called "Rabbit Hole". You follow the flowing water by jumping into a hole and then find yourself in a cave - admittedly, you it takes a bit of courage.

Strawberry Hill Hotel
Blue Mountain Coffee Barrel

Blue Mountains

The Blue Mountains are best known as the cultivation area of the coffee of the same name. The coffee is one of the best and most expensive coffees in the world. But a visit to the Blue Mountains is not only worthwhile for lovers of fragrant coffee. The Blue Mountains are also ideal for hiking, bird watching or cooling off in one of the rivers. The Strawberry Hills Hotel in the middle of the mountains is the perfect place for a snack. Enjoy a piece of cake and a cup of the wonderful coffee here.

Glistening Waters Falmouth

Glistening waters

Between Montego Bay and Ocho Rios is the small town of Falmouth. And here you can marvel at one of the most incredible natural spectacles in the world. As soon as darkness falls, this lagoon comes to life. Water from the Martha Brae River and sea water meet in the lagoon and tiny microorganisms live in this adventurous mix. As soon as they start moving, they glow blue in the dark.

Appleton Estate Jamaica
Appleton Rum Selection

Appleton Rum Distillery

Even the shape of the bottle suggests that this traditional Jamaican rum producer cannot be compared. The rum comes from the Nassau Valley in the west of the island, which was formed by a strongly curved river and is surrounded on all sides by a steep forest area. According to Appleton's master blender, Joy Spence, the best accompaniment to a glass of rum is dark Swiss chocolate with 70% cocoa. So now you know what you definitely need to pack in your suitcase when you board your flight in Zurich.

Floyd’s Pelican Bar
Floyd’s Pelican Bar with Red Stripe Beer

Floyd’s Pelican Bar

Flyod's Pelican Bar is definitely one of the most extraordinary bars in the world. A visit here is worthwhile. The bar is located in the middle of the water about 1.5 km from the coast. You can take a fishing boat from Treasure Beach out to sea until you arrive at Floyd's. Treat yourself to a cool drink and fresh catch straight from the sea in a unique atmosphere.

Cliff Jumping at Rick’s Cafe
Sunset at Rick’s Cafe

Rick’s Café

Rick's Cafe is the hotspot in Negril. It's right on a cliff and what do you do when you have a cliff as a neighbour? Exactly! You build an even higher platform on top and jump down. Rick's Cafe is a meeting place for daredevil cliff jumpers from home and abroad. If this is not romantic enough for you, you should definitely wait for the beautiful sunset to enjoy it from the terrace.

Franchman’s Cove

Frenchman’s Cove

Blue Lagoon Portland
Monkey Island

The Blue Lagoon

The Bue Lagoon is located on the north-east of the island in Portland. It is surrounded by steep slopes and dense green vegetation. At its deepest point, the lagoon is up to 50 metres deep. Our insider tip: Ask for a raft on site and take it to Monkey Island. You will pass the villas of the stars until you reach this minuscule paradise.

Chronixx Live in Concert
Jimmy Cliff live in Concert

Reggae

Of course, we can't avoid talking about reggae when we talk about Jamaica. Afterall the official slogan of Visit Jamaica is "Heartbeat of the World". The bass booms out of the speakers at every corner in the typical offbeat of reggae music. And it is precisely this music, coupled with the nature and the people, is what makes a visit to Jamaica so special. Visit a concert if you have the chance. Whether it's one of the reggae originals like Jimmy Cliff and Beres Hammond or one of the young up-and-coming artists like Koffee or Chronixx - let the rhythm of the island carry you away.
