Getting There
There is a regular postbus service from Les Diablerets and Gstaad up to Col du Pillon. The onward journey by cable car from Col du Pillon to Scex Rouge takes roughly twenty minutes.
Experience
Glacier 3000 is the place to be for some adrenaline-fuelled fun! Whether riding the Alpine Coaster (the world’s highest altitude toboggan run) or crossing the Peak Walk by Tissot (the only suspension bridge in the world that connects two mountain peaks): adrenaline junkies are in for a treat!
Walk to the Edelweiss Bench
The Edelweiss bench sits majestically on Mt. Scex Rouge at 9747 feet (2971 m) above sea level, right next to the “Peak Walk by Tissot” suspension bridge. Spanning 107 metres, the bridge is accessible free of charge and open all year round (subject to weather conditions).
Best View
The view from the Edelweiss bench showcases a breathtaking Alpine panorama of 24 snow-capped four-thousanders, including: Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau, Matterhorn, Grand Combin and Mont Blanc.
Tip
Being on Mount Scex Rouge means being closer than ever to eternal ice: the Glacier 3000 Snow Bus takes passengers across the crisp snow to the heart of an impressive glacial landscape. Situated on the edge of the glacier, the Refuge l’Espace restaurant offers guests a spectacular mountain panorama and delicious regional specialities.
Restaurant / Hotel
Designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta, the mountain top station is, per se, a sight to behold. The food served in the summit restaurant is delicious and includes high-quality regional specialities from the cantons of Bern, Vaud and Valais. The go-to for a more rustic style cuisine is the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) hut of Les Diablerets, which is located on the hiking trail from Reusch to Scex Rouge and a five-minute walk from the Cabane middle (cable car) station.
