The best way to explore the city of Reykjavik is on foot or by bicycle. There are many beautiful corners to discover. Some main attractions are the main shopping streets Laugavegur, the city hall or the Harpa concert hall, which was reopened in 2011 and whose façade was designed by the artist Ólafur Elíasson. Hallgrímskirkja Church is probably “the main landmark” of Reykjavik. It is visible from almost everywhere and towers over the city with its 74.5-metre-high church tower. A night without darkness! This natural phenomenon can be experienced in Iceland from May to August. The midnight sun peaks around the summer solstice, usually on 21 June. There is a special atmosphere in the country during these months.
