Getting there
Stans can be reached within twenty minutes by train or fifteen minutes by car from the city of Lucerne. Once in Stans, the cable car up to Mount Stanserhorn is a five-minute walk from the train station. The ride to the top takes 24 minutes and involves a change of cable cars at the middle station.

A cable car with a roofless upper deck? Stanserhorn is where you will find it! Known as “CabriO”, the convertible-style cable car is the latest innovation of the “Stanserhorn Bahn” - where old and new have been expertly combined: whereas the historic funicular of 1893 is still in use between Stans and Kälti (middle station), passengers are treated to a unique 360° view of Mount Stanserhorn (6230 ft.) during their CabriO ride to the summit.
Walk to the Edelweiss bench
The Edelweiss bench is just a short walk from the summit station. It is located right below the marmot enclosure.
Best view
A breathtaking sixty miles of alpine peaks and as many as ten Swiss lakes, including Lake Lucerne, are in splendid view from the Edelweiss bench.

Considered one of the most beautiful day-trip destinations in Central Switzerland, Mount Stanserhorn is ideal for all types of hiking – from short circular tours to extensive hikes. Those eager to step up their knowledge should not miss the Geo-Trail leading from Stanserhorn to Wirzweli. The trail provides interesting geological facts and fascinating details about the local flora. The Stanserhorn rangers will be glad to offer more information.
Restaurant / Hotel
Built in 2001, the Rondorama on Mount Stanserhorn was the first revolving restaurant in Central Switzerland. The restaurant turns full circle every 43 minutes, allowing guests to marvel at the splendid alpine world as they enjoy their meal. By the way, the restaurant is also open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, offering a wonderful opportunity to dine while taking in the city lights of Lucerne from above. Early reservations are recommended.
