Maite Nadig christens 5th Airbus A340 of Edelweiss
· Airbus A340, HB-JMC, was christened Flumserberg
· Brass players of the St.Gallen Symphony Orchestra attended as guests
Edelweiss has added an Airbus A340 to its long-haul fleet. The 5th aircraft of this fleet with the registration HB-JMC was ceremoniously named Flumserberg on Monday morning, 23 October. The traditional naming ceremony was performed by Maite Nadig, former ski racer and double Olympic champion, and David Birrer, Chief Operating Officer of Edelweiss. This was done in the presence of representatives of Bergbahnen Flumserberg AG. The festivities were accompanied musically by brass players from the St.Gallen Symphony Orchestra. And for good reason, because in the summer of 2024 the St.Gallen Festival will be held for the first time on the Flumserberg.
"Finding a sponsor region in Switzerland where the rare edelweiss actually blooms is becoming increasingly difficult. But we have managed it once again and are delighted that the canton of St. Gallen is now also represented in our fleet with the Flumserberg," says David Birrer.
Mario Bislin, CEO of Bergbahnen Flumserberg AG, sees this partnership as an ideal symbiosis. "The Flumserberg is the Swiss holiday paradise par excellence. And with this plane, we are taking the Flumserberg name to Edelweiss' many holiday paradise destinations."
As a sign of the partnership, the representatives of Flumserberg are placing an Edelweiss wooden bench in the shape of an aeroplane seat. On it, passers-by can enjoy the most beautiful views in the direction of Zurich Airport and dream of their next holiday. Almost like being on an aeroplane.
