Edelweiss christens Airbus A320 and presents new children's toys
Airbus A320 HB-JLS christened with the name "Oberalp”. School class from Andermatt as special guests at the aircraft christening at the airport. New children's toys make flying with Edelweiss even more family-friendly.
Edelweiss, Switzerland's leading leisure airline, is christening its aircraft after Swiss regions where the queen of the Alpine flower grows, in keeping with the motto "Where Edelweiss is at home". This afternoon at Zurich Airport, the Airbus A320 with the registration HB-JLS was christened "Oberalp". This was done in the presence of representatives from politics and tourism from Andermatt and Sedrun.
"We are delighted that the Oberalp represents the cantons of Uri and Graubünden on one of our aircraft. From now on, we will carry this diverse tourism region out into the wide world" says Patrick Heymann, Chief Commercial Officer of Edelweiss.
For Thomas Christen, Director of Andermatt-Urserntal Tourism, the cooperation with Edelweiss is an excellent fit: "We too offer our guests relaxing holidays with countless opportunities for nature lovers, culture enthusiasts, sports fans or families. Our region offers almost limitless diversity in both summer and winter - and not least a wonderful habitat for the alpine flower Edelweiss."
As a sign of the partnership, the region will receive an Edelweiss wooden bench in the shape of an aeroplane seat, where passers-by can enjoy the most beautiful views and dream of their next holiday. Almost like being on an aeroplane.
As special guests, 24 pupils of the 3rd and 4th grade of the district school Ursern of Andermatt were welcomed at Zurich Airport this afternoon. They were not only able to attend the naming ceremony as exclusive guests, but were also given the new Edelweiss children's toys as a memento of this unique day.
New children's toys: puzzle book, colouring pencils, sports bag and plush marmot Giancarlo
The youngest Edelweiss guests receive a variety of toys tailored to their age. The puzzle book contains fun and games, colouring-in sheets, puzzles and two detachable postcards. The content is adapted to the two age categories 3+ and 7+. With the puzzle book, the children also receive coloured pencils in a cardboard pouch.
The sports bags are now available in three different designs. The children can choose their favourite design themselves.
For the smallest guests, the plush marmot and Edelweiss mascot Giancarlo have been added to the range.
When selecting the products, Edelweiss made sure to use sustainable materials. The new toys will be given to children free of charge on all Edelweiss flights with immediate effect.
